The coffee aroma is present in our everyday life, even though we consider it an insignificant aspect of it. Maybe in each street or building next to our home we can find a coffee machine, ready to offer us the magic and controversial liquid of our mornings.

Coffee is related to a wonderful, romantic story. It begins somewhere in Africa, more precisely in the province of Kaffa in Ethiopia, where it is thought that coffee trees have grown for the first time. Myths related to coffee discovery or to its effect upon human body are numerous.

The most popular myth is related to a goat owner in Africa, who noticed in time that his animals used to develop a strange behavior after eating the red berries of the coffee tree. Moreover, slaves coming from the territory called Sudan nowadays, used to eat the peel of these fruit in order to get more energy. It is known that the coffee tree has been grown since the 15th century in Yemen as well.

Mocha used to be then the most important harbor in the route to Mecca and it was also considered one of the most bustling cities. Nevertheless, Arabians used to have a very strict policy related to coffee berries. They could not be given to a second part and nobody could obtain the fruit in order to grow it. Coffee berries could be found, but deprived of the red peel covering them, therefore they were not fertile. The first people who were able to bring back with them a few berries, in order to grow them, were the Dutch, in 1616.

Initially, authorities in Yemen have encouraged coffee consumption, instead of chewing leaves that was a popular habit of that time. The first cafs were opened in "Mecca" and they were called 'kaveh kanes'. After short time they spread to the whole Arabian world and they were very successful as there people could play chess, chat, sing or dance. Cafes were then luxurious and each owner used to decorate his / her caf according to his / her personal style.

Later on, Arabian cafes became important political centers, therefore they were banned. Coffee and cafes were officially forbidden, but they used to emerge under other forms. In a few years time they were accepted again by authorities, but fees were required to their owners.

Coffee became popular in Europe as well in the 17th century. Then, two other delicious drinks coming from abroad started to become popular too in the old continent. They were hot chocolate and tea. Hot chocolate that originated in America was brought to Europe for the first time by the Spanish. Tea was sold for the first time in Europe in 1610.

Since that moment, everybody has become fascinated by the coffee aroma. The first reference concerning coffee consumption in North America is mentioned in 1668, then all the big cities and the important trade centers have become markets for this product that is sold in cafes. Since 1720 coffee trees were grown in America too.

A French Press Coffee Maker sometimes referred to as a press pot, coffee press, coffee plunger or cafetire. It is simply a very basic way to make coffee. It consists of a typically glass beaker of sorts a wire mesh and a plunger (hence the term press).

How it Works
The water an coffee go into the beaker together to brew. This is a filter less system. Once the coffee has completed brewing the plunger on the top pushes all of the coffee grounds to the bottom of the beaker where they are trapped by the wire mesh. The results are a full bodied coffee, because there is no filtration system in place the rich taste of the coffee is preserved. The essential oils of the coffee come through in the flavor. Coffee prepared under these conditions typically expires after about 30 minutes, when the coffee becomes too bitter to enjoy.

Design
These simple coffee makers are attractively crafted in their simplicity. Typically with glass bodies and stainless or even sterling plungers. They sit nicely on the dinner/breakfast table and are a wonderful way to serve coffee. There is a crossover market dedicated to hikers, campers and other outdoor enthusiasts who find brewing coffee without having to worry about filters and too many parts an attractive alternative to conventional coffee brewing methods. Pots that are made for outdoor use are usually made from plastic. There are even to go type pots that are used much like a travel mug these are also made from plastic.

French Press Coffee Makers regardless what they are named are an interesting and fun way to serve up some coffee.

How can you use coffee in homemade recipes for beauty? Most people know that coffee is made from roasted coffee beans. The rich caffeine content is a main reason coffee is so popular. But how can it enhance your natural beauty?

What can coffee do for you?

Makes you skin smoother Makes you hair shinier

Contains potent natural oils, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients

Help reduce body weight

Triggers growth factors in your brain that stimulates muscle growth

Much more

Go for the best beans

Most commercial coffee beans are heavily contaminated with pesticides and fertilizers. High quality, organic coffee beans are the best choice as they contain larger amounts of health promoting substances but little or no harmful chemicals.

Organic coffee beans contain powerful antioxidants that protects the skin cells against premature aging and makes your skin resistant to bacteria and other harmful microorganisms.

Coffee is diuretic

Drinking too much coffee or tea can dry out your body and skin resulting in poor complexion. A common beauty advice is to drink enough water every day to prevent your skin to dry out. You don't want to counteract this advice by consuming too much caffeine.

If you drink enough water the oily substance (sebum) in your skin will keep your skin moist, thus preventing dry skin, wrinkles and other skin problems. Skin cells badly need the water you drink. Eating more vegetables is wise as they contain large amounts of water and minerals.

If you for some reason need to reduce the amount of liquid in your body, coffee and tea will work well. Green tea with chamomile can give an even faster result.

Healthy oils in coffee grounds

Coffee beans are roasted in a complex process where the moist is removed and aromatic oils are created. The typical smell of coffee is from the caffeol oil. Research indicates that especially dark roasted beans are highly beneficial.

The oils in dark roasted coffee beans are valuable for your skin. They mildly cleanse and moisturize the skin resulting in softer and supple skin.

Beautiful hair with coffee

If you want to soften and add more shine to your hair, then this is one of the most interesting homemade recipes for beauty. It's mainly the complex oils in the coffee that creates the effect, but it's possible that amino acids also play an important role.

Prepare a really strong coffee and let it cool off

Pour the coffee over your hair and leave it for 20 minutes

Options: Wash or rinse your hair before or after using the coffee rinse

You can also try preparing a strong chamomile tea and use it for your hair. It also makes your hair shinier.

Caffeine to treat hair loss for men?

Research shows that caffeine stimulates weak hair roots. It's possible that hair roots are sensitive to the male hormone testosterone. The caffeine could work to protect your hair against this. The result of this research was the creation of a shampoo containing high levels of caffeine (Alpecin After Shampoo Liquid).

Healthy soaps with caffeine

You can buy soaps made from natural ingredients including caffeine or you can try making soap at home. Homemade recipes for soaps are wonderful and better for your skin than commercial soaps containing harmful chemicals and dries out your skin.

Coffee scrub recipes

Scrub recipes containing coffee is very potent. This homemade recipe for a coffee scrub will cleanse and contract your skin. The lemon juice enhances the peeling effect.

A little fine-ground coffee

One tablespoon olive oil

Hot water

Mix all ingredients and pour how water on it. Leave it for a few hours and pour out the water. Use the grounds to gently scrub your skin. You can also leave it on sensitive areas for a few minutes. Rinse with water and moisturize your skin.

Cellulite

Many commercial and homemade recipes for beauty contain coffee or just caffeine. Caffeine makes small blood vessels contract and therefore makes cellulite less visible, at least temporary.

Recipe for a peeling mask

This is a nice facial peeling mask.

Mix cup of ground coffee with one egg white

Gently massage it into your face and let it dry

Rinse after 20 minutes

Get the most out of your coffee

Using coffee in your homemade recipes for beauty is simple and very beneficial if you do it right. Some advice to achieve therapeutic value:

Drink dark roasted, black coffee without sugar

Organic (USDA) pesticide-free beans are healthiest

Buy whole beans and grind them yourself if possible

void consuming the isolate caffeine as it's stripped of nutrients

Up to 6 cups a day will benefit your health according to some research

(PRWEB) June 01, 2011

In 1916, New England Coffee was founded by Menelaos Kaloyanides, his brother George and their cousin Megaklis Papadopoulos in Boston, MA on the corner of Milk and Broad Streets, where hand-roasted coffee was delivered by horse and wagon. Ninety-five years later, the business is still in the family and is owned by the third generation of Kaloyanides and Dostou families. In 1966, New England Coffee settled into their current location in Malden, MA, where they now occupy five buildings on Charles Street.

In the beginning, New England Coffee focused on manufacturing coffee for Foodservice customers under the name of Manhattan Coffee and New England Coffee. In 1987, they introduced Winslow Coffee as their specialty brand. It was in 1999 that New England Coffee changed to their present name and developed a new consumer product package that was introduced to supermarket locations for retail sales.

Over the course of 95 years, New England Coffee has evolved from a small coffee roasting company, to become the largest independent coffee roaster in New England and one of the largest independent coffee roasters in the country.

For the past 95 years, the President of New England Coffee has been one of the owners of the family business. In March of this year, the ownership elected to entrust the leadership of their employees and service to their customers to Chuck Kozubal, as New England Coffees new President and COO.

Were pleased that Chuck decided to join New England Coffee from Uno Foods, where he enjoyed a successful career as Sr. Vice President, stated Jim Kaloyanides Sr. (Third Generation), Principal. The owners of New England Coffee are excited to welcome Chuck to our New England Coffee family and look forward to continued growth and a bright future under his watch.

I am thrilled at the invitation to join the New England Coffee family, states Chuck Kozubal. New England Coffee has been a great success story for four generations and I am committed to bringing that same high level of energy to the organization. We are looking forward to continued growth for generations to come.

The success of New England Coffee Company could not have been achieved without the support from their retail consumers, foodservice customers and the coffee industry as a whole. For this, they share much appreciation. New England Coffee is a firm believer in Think Globally, Act Locally business strategy and over the past 95 years they have strived to adhere to this principle and will continue to do so for future growth.

I have a tremendous sense of pride knowing that I am helping to shape the future of our family business, states Jim Kaloyanides Jr. (Fourth Generation), Director of Sales. My goal is to help position us for growth and to capture opportunity in the marketplace while preserving our soul and who we are as a company at heart. I see the pride that my grandfather, Basil Kaloyanides (Second Generation), has in the business, where it has been and where it is going. I think it would be wonderful to share that feeling of pride with generations.

With all of their success, New England Coffees beliefs in the highest standards of customer service and
product quality have remained unchanged and will continue with this philosophy for the next 95 years to come.

About New England Coffee:

Celebrating 95 years, New England Coffee, headquartered in Malden, Massachusetts, was founded in 1916 by the Kaloyanides and Dostou families. While we have grown to become New Englands largest independent coffee roaster, our philosophy is still the same to buy and sell premium coffee and provide the best service possible.

Gourmet coffee roasters are a necessity when roasting coffee beans. The fresh smells of beans being heated and the aromas wafting through the air can make any coffee-lovers heart go pitter-patter. These wonderful inventions are basically gourmet machines that are made to roast coffee beans to the desired level of roasting. What level of roasting is up to you and what your palate prefers

Gourmet coffee roasters are readily available for purchase with the click of a mouse. You can purchase these roasters online and in various department and specialty shops. What is wonderful about owning a roaster is that you can roast only the beans you are about to use; therefore, you will be drinking the most delicious and freshest coffee possible.

Roasters range in size and shape. Some are made for at home use and can be purchased for well under $50. Other ones are large and meant to be used for retail operations. These can get quite pricey; however, they are meant for heavy volume and are built to last for years and years. The key to a delicious and fresh cup of Joe is having beans that were recently roasted. When purchasing beans that have already been roasted it is much harder to get freshly roasted. Companies take the beans, roast them, pack them up, deliver them around the world and then they must be put on the shelves. This means it can take a great deal of time before they actually reach you. Having your own coffee roaster eliminates the middle man, and therefore you drink the freshest cup of coffee possible

The process begins with the green coffee bean. Yes, the beans are green, not brown like most of us would imagine. The machine roasts the beans with the click of button and they are ready to be consumed. The darker the roast, the more robust in flavor the drink will be. Some people prefer a lighter roast, such as a cinnamon roast, and this is perfect for people who do not enjoy a heavy taste. On the other hand, the darkest and most robust beans, are typically used for espresso. Espresso is then used to produce many common drinks that most of us have come to know and love such as: latte, cappuccino, and mocha. The possibilities are truly limitless as espresso is the base to an army of specialty gourmet coffee drinks.

As more and more coffee connoisseurs start roasting their own coffee beans from home, many people are confused on how to buy green coffee beans for roasting. Not all green coffee beans are created equal as it depends on the grade and the region that the coffee is grown in. Another important aspect is the freshness of the beans as well. You do not want coffee beans that have been stored on warehouse floors for a number of years.

Before you buy, you need to know what type of coffee it is you are wanting to roast. The most popular green coffee beans for home roasting are Kenya AA, Costa Rican Tarrazu, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Guatemalan Antigua, Mexican Altura, Jamaican Blue Mountain, Brazilian Santos, Sumatra Mandheling, Colombian Supremo and Tanzanian Peaberry. All of these coffee beans have a different storied history, but share the trait that they are all fine, rich, aromatic coffees. These coffees all vary in taste profiles based on the type elevation, soil and climate that they are grown in. Whatever your taste buds crave, there is indeed a coffee matched for it.

Once you have decided what type of green coffee you want to roast at home, you next need to decide on the amount to purchase. Often times the best price breaks are found by buying 5 pounds of beans at a time. This is a perfect amount for any beginner home roaster to begin mastering his home coffee roasting hobby. If 5 pounds is too much, you can then settle for buying 1 pound at a time if you need a smaller amount.

After determining the amount, you will probably need to buy your green coffee beans online from an online home coffee roaster vendor such as the Popcorn Coffee Roaster. They have a huge selection of green coffee beans to choose from and all come in 5 pound bags. You can also get tips on roasting at home along with thorough descriptions of each green coffee type. Green coffee beans are usually shipped to you in just a few days and are ready to roast upon arrival.

Mr. Marshall is a master home coffee roaster. You can buy green coffee beans at his home coffee roasting Web site found at popcorncoffeeroaster.com online.
