Klatch Coffee has announced a special coffee cupping event on Saturday, September 17, at 10 am. The event will be held in Klatch Roasting and Training facility in Upland, and will feature the worldrenowned Geisha varietal coffees from Panama, as well as, a live roasting exhibition. Admission is $25 per person.
Klatch Green Coffee Buyer, Mike Perry, who was a International Judge earlier this year for the Best of Panama (BOP) cupping competition, was able to source not one but the top three Geishas from Panama through auction and direct trade relationships with producers.

Consumer coffee authority Kevin Sinnott is creating the first-ever international consumer coffee conference to be held, perhaps ironically, in the sleepy Chicago suburb of Warrenville, Illinois. He unveils CoffeeCON 2012, a special day-long happening on Saturday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the IBEW building, 28600 Bella Vista Parkway.
This is an opportunity to journey into the worlds most amazing coffee varieties from around the world and learn about brewing, and even roasting, in every style imaginable. Top world amateur and professional coffee experts will present a wide variety of seminars...
Cupping will include the most famous Esmeralda Geisha from the lot near Marios house at Hacienda Esmeralda. This Geisha has set many world records at auction and won many competitions. This year at the BOP, Aristar Geisha triumph Esmeralda for first place. Similar in taste with the traditional sugar cane, jasmine, and tea like qualities, the Aristar adds more stonefruit to the palete. Aristar is also the coffee used by Barista Champion, Heather Perry, to win the Ultimate Barista Best of Brew Competition, last month. The highlight of Klatch's cupping session will be a natural processed Geisha from Don Pachi, that sold for $111 per pound at this years BOP.
During the cupping session, Klatch Roastmaster, Shane Soper and Barista Champion, Heather Perry, will introduce the basics of coffee cupping to better understand and stimulate cuppers senses. Tasters will also learn about the roasting process during Klatch's live roasting demonstration.

A standard coffee cupping procedure involves deeply sniffing the coffee, then loudly slurping the coffee so it spreads to the back of the tongue.
